We can all relate, on some level, to the emotive and mysterious sense the Moon shines upon us from the sky.
The metaphor and poetry of her presence and spell are sources of infinite inspiration.
She is elusive, moody, and yet… reliable somehow.
Today is a potent new moon, rich with feeling and the seeds of creative change, nestled in the replenishing depths of the star sign1 she rules and calls home.
In her grandmotherly-ness, she can remind each of us what our particular flavor, desire, and need of HOME is.
Environments, context, perspective, and timing matter… I don’t think any of us would argue that. Shifts in any of these can make all the difference in our sense of belonging, and our quality and experience of life.
The moon has much to show us about this….
It feels like the right moon/day to begin planting a series of posts here, inspired by and pulled from my past offerings and explorations2 of the creative potentiality within astrological wisdom. This is a realm of ancient knowledge exploration that can help us 1) make sense of these messy, human, creative lives, 2) re-imagine what can change and heal here on earth, in these bodies of spirit and matter, and 3) reconnect with the wonder of the Great Mystery unfolding around and through us - personally, collectively and connectively.
Humans have always been drawn to connect with Nature and what is Sacred through relationship with her rhythms and cycles, such as with the moons phases, gravitational pulls, and moods.
She is also, somehow, keeper of our secrets, longings and most vulnerable places.
Looking at the Moon’s sign and placements in our own birth chart can be personally illuminating - and should you pursue this, I encourage you to do so with gentleness toward yourself and loving curiosity for whatever it is you may feel along the way.
The Moon has a way of being both dreamy and raw. She can touch on tender truths within our psyche, reflecting the light of our Sun, heart and soul – but with all the honest, messy depths of being fully human.
That is her gift, and her beauty, and why she is one of the most essential parts to glean from astrology’s wisdom.
Let’s reflect on the Moon’s qualities and archetypes, and the messages and invitations she reflects back to us, in this audio musing.
I hope hearing my voice will add a layer of connectivity to the experience for you, but there is also a transcript tab, if reading is your preference or more convenient.
I’d love to know what comes up for you as you listen.
this new moon is in the zodiac sign of Cancer
