Often called the ‘personal planets’ in astrology, there is a core dynamic - between the archetypal wisdom of the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars - that speaks to us about our very basic human tendencies, expressions, expectations and motivations.
I’ve posted the Moon and the Sun audio reflections, and they are the primary planetary players - so listen to those (too) if you haven’t already.
Attentiveness to what the archetypal ebbs and flows represent within can help us ensure that these important parts of ourselves don’t take over our whole experience or expression, by being neglected or unchecked, leaking in unwanted places or ways, or even becoming unconsciously toxic or unhelpful to our relationships or how we navigate our lives.
When we remember that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, and that planets represent an instinctual creative/energetic nature, inherent in each of us, personally and collectively – then we are ready to explore the territory of how to honor, express, direct, celebrate, nurture and transmit the energy we are working with, with some heart-centered consciousness and practical vision.
And we are all working with a unique, fascinating, connective, sometimes feisty and unpredictable energy when it comes to our clever right-hand friend of messages, Mercury… a planet on a mission of gathering perception and information, taking it in, connecting the dots, sharing it, and helping to otherwise turn the wheels of our transmission, engagement and growth.
I want to invite you to engage with this Mercurial reflection1 in a way that truly honors an important quality, skill and wisdom highlighted by this momentous planet:
…by simply, and only, LISTENING.
No other tasks. No note-taking, doodling, multi-tasking, googling, painting, sewing, walking the dog, cleaning, organizing, writing, looking at your chart… none of it.
JUST LISTENING with all of your attention.
You might try closing your eyes and just focusing on my voice. Or light a candle and focus on the flame.
This will be extremely challenging for some of you – maybe unexpectedly so – but give it a shot. It might feel wonderful to slow down to this pace of presence.
